Scriptio: Privacy Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
Scriptio is a writing app for Mac, iPhone, and iPad, made by Ryan Egli. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: Scriptio doesn't collect anything.
What Scriptio collects
Nothing. Scriptio has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The developer never receives your writing, your settings, or any information about how you use the app.
Where your writing is kept
Your documents are plain files stored in Scriptio's folder in your iCloud Drive, or on your device if iCloud Drive is turned off. iCloud is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and only you can see your files there.
Scriptio also uses iCloud to sync your settings and how many words you've written each day between your own devices.
Publishing to your blog
If you choose to add a blog (WordPress, Ghost, Micro.blog, or Medium), Scriptio stores the address and sign-in details you enter in your device's keychain, which iCloud Keychain can sync between your devices. When you publish, Scriptio sends the post and its pictures directly to that blog and nowhere else. What happens after that is covered by your blog provider's own privacy policy.
Pictures
When you add a picture to a document, Scriptio removes its location information before saving it. Pictures stay in your library alongside your writing.
Children
Scriptio collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
