Simple Budget is a personal budgeting app. It is designed so that your financial information stays with you.

The short version

  • You don't create an account with us, and we don't run any servers.

  • We never see, collect, sell or share your data.

  • There are no ads, analytics or tracking of any kind.

Where your data is stored

Your accounts, transactions, budgets, receipts and settings are stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for your Apple Account, they sync between your devices through your own private iCloud database. Apple protects that database, and we can't access it. You can export a backup or erase all of your data at any time in Settings.

Optional services you connect

Simple Budget works fully without any of the following. If you choose to use them:

  • SimpleFIN Bridge. If you connect your own SimpleFIN Bridge account, Simple Budget downloads read-only balance and transaction data from SimpleFIN straight to your device. Your connection is stored in your device's Keychain. SimpleFIN is a separate service with its own privacy policy.

  • Twelve Data. If you add your own Twelve Data API key, Simple Budget sends the stock and fund symbols of your holdings to Twelve Data to get prices. Nothing else is sent. Your key is stored in your device's Keychain.

Asking questions, Siri and Shortcuts

When you ask Simple Budget a question about your finances, it answers with Apple Intelligence's on-device model, and your data doesn't leave your device. Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight actions run inside the app on your device and read the same data you see in the app.

Purchases

Apple handles purchases through the App Store. We don't receive your payment information.

Notifications, camera and photos

Budget alerts are notifications created on your device. The camera is used only when you choose to scan a receipt. Your photo library is used only when you choose photos to attach as receipts. Receipts are stored with the rest of your data, as described above.

Children

Simple Budget is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be available in the app and on this page.
