Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026

Skylark is a Mac app for Bluesky, made by Ryan Egli ("we"). This policy explains what information Skylark handles and where it goes.

The short version: we don't collect your personal information. Skylark has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking, and we don't run servers that receive your data. Skylark talks directly to Bluesky on your behalf, and anything it saves stays on your Mac.

Your Bluesky account

To sign in, you enter your Bluesky handle and an app password. Skylark sends these only to your Bluesky server to start a session. It doesn't store your app password. It keeps the session tokens Bluesky returns in your Mac's Keychain so you stay signed in. Removing an account in Skylark deletes its tokens from your Mac.

Posts, messages, and other Bluesky content

Your timeline, posts, replies, likes, follows, notifications, lists, and direct messages are loaded from and sent to Bluesky's services (your Bluesky server, Bluesky's chat service, and Bluesky's video service), the same as any Bluesky app. That information is handled under Bluesky's Privacy Policy, not ours. We never see it.

Information stored on your Mac

  • Settings such as notification and auto-scrolling preferences.

  • Scheduled posts. When Skylark sends a scheduled post from your Mac, the post's text and attachments are saved on your Mac until it's published. Attachments are deleted once the post goes out, and the record of a sent post is removed after 30 days.

This information is kept in Skylark's private storage on your Mac and isn't sent to us.

Link previews

When you add a link to a post, Skylark loads that web page from your Mac to build a preview card (its title, description, and image). That website receives the request just as it would if you visited it in a browser.

Optional cloud relay

If you choose to set up the optional cloud relay for scheduled posts, it runs in your own Google Cloud account, not ours. Your scheduled posts are sent to your relay, which posts them to Bluesky for you. The relay's address and access key are stored on your Mac (the key in the Keychain). We have no access to your relay or anything in it.

Notifications

If you turn on Mac notifications, Skylark checks Bluesky for new activity while it's running and shows notifications on your Mac. No push notification service or third party is involved.

Purchases

Skylark Pro is purchased through the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and we don't receive your payment details. Skylark only checks with the App Store whether Pro is unlocked on your Apple Account.

Children

Skylark is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
